この規格は，ボルト・ナットの組合せによるねじ締付けに対する特性値（以下，締付特性値という。）を求めるための試験方法について規定する。この規格で対象とする締付特性値は，トルク係数，総合摩擦係数，ねじ面摩擦係数，座面摩擦係数，降伏締付軸力，降伏締付トルク，及び極限（最大）締付軸力とする。

なお，この規格は，ボルト・ナット以外のねじ部品の締付特性値及びねじ部品と構造体のねじとの組合せの締付特性値を求める場合にも準用することができる。ただし，おねじ部品に圧縮力を与える止めねじ類及びおねじ部品自体でねじ立てをする木ねじ，タッピングねじ類並びに特別な戻り止め機能を付与したねじ部品の締付特性値を求める場合には適用できない。

注記．この規格はJIS B 1084：1990を一部変更，追 記したものである。

This standard specifies the method of test for obtaining characteristic values for tightening (hereinafter referred to as "tightening characteristic value") by the combination of bolts and nuts. This standard covers the tightening characteristic values ; torque coefficient, coefficient of total friction, coefficient of friction between threads, coefficient of friction between bearing surfaces, yield clamping force, yield tightening torque and ultimate (max.) clamping force.

Further, this standard is applicable, as appropriate, to cases of obtaining tightening characteristic values of threaded parts other than bolts and nuts and tightening characteristic values of combinations of threaded parts and screw threads of construction body. However, this standard is not applicable to the cases of the tightening characteristic values of the set screws used to give compressive force to external threaded fasteners, the screws tapping with their own external thread including wood screws and self-tapping screws and the threaded fasteners having special self-locking function.

Remark : This standard is derived from JIS B 1083:1990 ; thus, containing the same provisions as those of JIS B 1083:1990 with partial changes and additions.
